Making History
"Wow", is the word for this summer's Olympics held in Beijing. The bar has been raised to extreme levels, so much so that it leaves you to wonder, how much better the Olympics and its competitors can actually get.

All the drama started in the pool with Michael Phelps, aiming to break as many records as possible, he proved he was a class above the rest after taking 8 gold medals; he now holds the record for most gold medals won at a single Olympics. Phelps also broke 5 world records, and at just 23, he plans to take the Swimming events to even greater lengths by 2012.
The Beijing games proved to be a successful for Team GB, with a record 19 gold medals, and a total of 47 medals, they surpassed all expectations. However with the success mainly coming from the cycling and sailing teams, Team GB has a lot of improving to do before the 2012 Olympics in London, especially in the track and field department where a lot more was expected.

The track and field team could only manage 3 medals in total and only one was gold coming from Christine Ohuruogu, who some say was lucky to be at the games and should have been dealt the same fate as Dwain Chambers.
Breaking Records

This leads me to the sprint finals of the 100 and 200 meters which Dwain Chambers is still adamant that he would have taken a medal, if so he would have had to have run the race of his life as Usain Bolt is currently in a whole different class to the rest.
Bolt smashed both 100 and 200 meter records to take gold, as well as winning a relay gold medal. He has set new heights to the world of Sprint athletics and is on target to dominate events for years to come, and if possible smash his own records again and again.
London 2012

Now that it is all over, our attentions turn to 2012, all eyes will be on London to deliver a spectacle as exciting and as dramatic as Beijing. Also with Team GB boasting a host of young hopefuls, they are confident that 2012 will be one of the greatest Olympics ever staged and will also bring even greater success for Team GB.
