Calling all Power Hounds

K2 has announced that the Shane "Cliff Huckstable" McConkey edition Pontoon fatty ski, are now on their way to retailers, after a technical delay held up the production for a few weeks. The famed RedBull front-man and multiple World Extreme skiing champion, died this past spring in a base jumping accident in Italy. This ski with unique Shane inspired graphics and a limited run of 500, all numbered on the mid-sole, are available in 169,179,189 lengths. For every pair bought a contribution will be made to the Shane McConkey fund to help support Sherry and Ayla; Shane's wife and daughter. Unfortunately no trust fund was in place at the time of Shane's tragic death.

For Every Man or Woman, a Crown

Each ski has the surf inspired bowed tips to aide floatation. With a160 tip, 130 waist and 120 tails, they are sure to be a mainstay of the slopes for years to come. K2 still crafts it's innards from Aspen, giving them exceptional strength and flexibility. "They work exceptionally well in all conditions, they cover the whole gamut of snow types; powder, heavy powder, crud, crust, corn, breakable crust, packed powder, slush, loose wet and frozen granular," said long term K2 rider and Masters downhill program head, at Snow King resort and Jackson Hole Ski and Board club, Fern Comeau.

Floaty Delight

The design allows riders to stay on the surface, no matter how loose the terrain. The rocker tip forces the head of the ski constantly to the surface, allowing exceptional control even from a novice pilot. The wide waist allows sweeping turns and confidence on the steepest of hillsides.

Prices range in the $699's. They will be hitting stores by the middle of December (just in time to be stashed under a Christmas tree) and Europe a week later.
