Corinne Bailey Rae; The Sea

"It's not contrived. It's just open"

This album has been highly anticipated by those of us who were blow away by Corinne's debut album, 'Corinne Bailey Rae', which sold 4 million copies worldwide. She has been away for years and has had to deal with some really tough personal issues; namely the death of her husband in 2008.

Fast forward 3 years, and here she is with her latest offering, 'The Sea' which Corinne seems to use as a channel to release some of the grief that she has had to endure. Corrine shines on this album; her smooth melodic vocals draw you in on 'Closer', and 'Paris Nights, New York Mornings' is another favourite. Co produced by herself and Steve Brown; the songs are amazing, matching her milky vocals to a 'T'; she holds her own with creative diversity.

Just confirmed as Stevie Wonder's support act during the European leg of his summer tour, hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of Corinne. They two of them will also be performing at London's Hard Rock Calling show in Hyde Park on 26th June.

'The Sea' is released on Good Groove, Virgin records, I for one am definitely adding a copy to my collection; it is a refreshing and honest offering from Corinne Bailey Rae.
