Fair enough, I know we only had around 2 weeks of sunshine this summer here in the UK and I hate to be the one to break it to you, but in case you hadn't guessed, summer has officially given way to autumn. Personally, I am a lover of the autumn; I like the fashion and the crisp mornings. I imagine you are not all with me but I can guarantee that after seeing these closet essentials, you will be.
Hermes

For autumn / winter 08 many designers have opted for the smarter option. Tailored trousers are big, (as seen on the Hermes catwalk) teamed with the infamous waistcoat that we have all grown to know and love. There are mostly sombre tones; blacks, browns, grey with the odd splash of colour here and there. My favourite from the Hermes catwalk had to be the brown knee length soft brown leather jacket, which looked sumptuous.
Man - TopMan Designs

For sweaters, the place to be was the Man catwalk show where they featured chunky electric blue knits teamed with chunky scarves in green, blue and dog tooth pink with black straight pants and military style boots. The mood was serious, though remember that it's always good to make a statement with your outfit and throw on a hint of colour whenever possible.
Perry Ellis

Perry Ellis went for a more casual approach to autumn, their trousers were looser and their take on leather was distinctly different from that of Hermes as they opted for a shorter biker style leather jacket in brown which couldn't help but to catch my eye.
Pringle of Scotland

The best blazers were found on the runway of Pringle of Scotland, a must have staple item for a man's closet - this is one item that it is impossible to do without as it provides a quick and easy way to smarten up a bland outfit, or to dress down a more formal look. Dare to be different and experiment with not only colours but also with prints and fabrics.
