The Oxo Tower Restaurant on London's South Bank is a spot not to be ignored. The Oxo Tower itself is quite an imposing piece of architecture which dates back to the days of the famous Oxo cube and from the second you enter the restaurant, the design takes your breath away. The modern deco is set off perfectly by the backdrop of some of the most impressive views that London has to offer. The restaurant even has angled windows which prevent night time reflections that may obscure your view.

When I arrived at the restaurant, after a few missed twists and turns (I kept missing the entrance to restaurant), we were seated at the bar area and offered a drink to wet the palate whilst they prepared the best seat in the house for me and my guest, (you just gotta love Crumbs eh?) within minutes we were led to a table that gave the best high definition views of the capital, St Paul's seemed merely a stone throw away.

The Oxo Tower restaurant seats 130 people plus 80 on the terrace in the summer months. Its available for private party hire and a perfect location for that important lunch time business meeting.

Celebrating its 12th birthday from September until the end of October, the Oxo Tower is offering a special 12 course tasting menu which features some of their most popular dishes from the past 12 years for 120 per person. Some of the special dishes which have come out of retirement are; from 1997, Simon Arkless' Jerusalem Artichoke Soup, hot foie gras and truffle to and Jeremy Bloor's 2005 Roast John Dory, smoked duck and apple spelt. Whatever dish you go for, you must begin with the crab salad with sweet corn ice cream; delicious.

The Oxo Tower restaurant gets top marks, the staff are attentive, but not overbearing, your glasses are kept full with minimum wait time between courses. All this in such amazing surroundings; couldn't ask for more.
