Solange; I Decided

Without trying to sound too patronizing; the baby sister of one of the most successful recording artists in the business, Beyonce, (so popular that she doesn't even need a last name) returns to the scene (though many of you, I'm sure, will not have been aware of her presence to begin with). Well know her or not, Solange Knowles is releasing her first single from her 2nd album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St Dreams" (don't ask me...). The single is called I Decided it's produced by the Neptunes and I've fallen in love with it.

Don't underestimate this lady, she has been busy in the background for a while; back up dancing for Destiny's Child, writing music, acting and obviously doing some vocal work, motherhood (she has a 3 year old son, Daniel). Sounds exhausting right? That's not to mention the savvy business woman that she is which secured her a contract with Wal Mart... talent definitely runs in this family.

Now, back to the track, I Decided is a song that takes you back to the 60's, the times of the Supremes and other Motown groups. Technically, I'd say I Decided is quite an empty track; there are tambourines, piano cords, claps and a light bass line, but little else more musically - not to say that this is a bad thing as it gives Solange the opportunity to show off her skills.

With I Decided, Solange serves us the perfect summer track, I for one am looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.
