Styling with Jason Shankey

"Someone's got a case of the Monday's"

I, like most men on Monday Morning, can't help but press the snooze button repeatedly in disbelief! That 6.30 am wake up call, which inevitably turns into 7.15 even before I roll out of bed to face the everyday responsibilities that lay ahead. But why is that? Why do men hate Monday mornings? Well according to a survey done by Braun Series 3 the number one reason why men hate Monday mornings is the daunting task of getting to work on time while looking good.

Male grooming expert Jason Shankey has provided a few simple tips for your skin, hair, and beards for those mornings to help us look our best even before we walk out the door.

The Windows to the Soul

Your eyes have the ability to speak volumes about your health, and weekend adventures, on a Monday morning. Jason states that men are more prone to dark circles under our eyes and that is why his first order is to use a moisturizing eye cream to tighten the skin around the eyes; "Choose an eye cream that contains caffeine, cucumber and aloe as it can help reduce puffiness". Jason also attributes constant hydrations as another tip for skin refurbishment.

Wash the Weekend out of your Hair

We all as men spend a vast majority of time styling out hair in the mirror, but most men forget the more important process of shampooing after a long weekend out, Jason advices; "Using a shampoo that contains Tree Tea freshens up the scalp, leaves the hair really shinny and it is also an anti dandruff remedy".

Stubble Free

The removal of your weekend beard is always a painful Monday morning must to 65% of men surveyed, but it shouldn't be the first thing on the list in the morning. Jason suggests that by allowing your skin 10 minutes to wake up, it will "help iron out those sleep wrinkles and to reduce puffiness".

Another piece to the puzzle even before the blade hits your face, according to Jason, is to invest in a pre-electric shave lotion thus reducing the friction and protecting the skin throughout the shave. "Using a good pre-electric shave lotion to evaporate excess moisture and lift up the hairs for a closer shave". The last thing to assist in shaving is to invest in a foil shaver; "By using a foil shaver you don't need to worry about shaving against the direction of your hair growth."

Using these simple and easy steps applied on a Monday morning, Jason states will help you start the work week off on the right foot, and I think we can all state from experience, that a little help on a Monday morning can go a long way.
