The BMW GINA

"...It's about being flexible"

A fabric car? I am still trying to get my head around this idea. Our friends at BMW have set tongues wagging with the unveiling of their concept for the 2 seated roadster, GINA. Personally I feel there is something a little disturbing about the look of this car; the humanistic element of GINA is highlighted by its fabric being referred to as 'skin', the doors of the car which bear a slight resemblance to bingo wings as well as the eyes (headlights) of the car which open and close like a blink, the rear lights shine through the fabric itself... this is some crazy Post-Batman stuff.

The concept of the GINA is rather amazing. For GINA, BMW has decided to do away with the metal /plastic skin of the car and opt for a durable fabric instead which enables better performance and improved aerodynamics as the car has the ability to change shape, is much lighter and takes a lot less energy to make.

The GINA concept grows on you; the more you study it, the more impressive it gets, although since there is no roof I am questioning whether the UK is the right place for her? Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself as this is merely a concept and will no doubt endure many modifications if it was to ever be unleashed on the public.

Please note; if you have enemies, this may not be for you - imagine someone keying this car?
