The Ting Tings consists of English indie pop duo; Katie White and Jules De Martino. They have crashed onto the music scene with their catchy, energetic single entitled, 'That's Not My Name' which stormed straight to the top of the UK charts, securing them the coveted number one spot. They then went on to release their debut Album, 'We Started Nothing' on the 19th of May which reached number one on the album charts.
Kate and Jules, both from Leigh, North West England formed The Ting Tings in 2006. Before the Ting Tings Katie was a member of girl group TKO who supported pop bands like Five and Steps in concerts - a far cry from the music she is doing now. Katie and Jules then formed Dear Eskimo with Mike Picarrin when this group split; Katie and Jules went on to form The Ting Tings. After performing at The Mill in Salford, they sparked the interest of A&R representatives and producers like Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers and Johnny Cash) and started creating a huge buzz on the music scene.
Fast forward two years and The Ting Tings are now selling out shows from Brooklyn to LA with their new sound that if you don't like initially, is guarantee to have you dancing when you hear it on the radio. Their music has been used on TV programs like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill; everyone wants a piece of them. The Tings Tings are have an original sound and style, (think Andy Warhol meets Emmerdale) their music seems to be fused by a range of genres and eras, the 80's vibe is evident but they also have a very modern twist to their music, you'll either love them or hate them, I doubt there's any in between.
