The UK Asian Music Awards; UK Asian music lovers' answer to the MOBO's or even the Brits, was held earlier this month at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall and it more than lived up to my expectations of the night . A great showcase of talent from a range of artists like Channni Singh and his daughter, Mona Singh as well as American R&B group, Jagged Edge, who had the often times restrained crowd up from their seats as they treated them to a medley of their hits (well the two that were present did).
The urban and the best male act awards both went to Jay Sean, who took time out of hobnobbing with his celebrity pals to collect his awards amidst cheers from the immaculately dressed crowd. M.I.A scooped the award for best female and Rishi Rich, not one to be left out, snagged the best producer and commitment to the scene awards.
The multi talented AR Rahman won the much deserved B4U Music Outstanding Music Award, and how could we expect any less after scooping both an Oscar and a BAFTA for his work on Slumdog Millionaire? I must say that the UK Asian Music Awards is not to be sneezed at, same time, same place next year?
